The randomness in life never ceases to amaze me. It’s like, I believe so much on it… That’s why, this game seems interesting to play.
My friend Marie gave me the idea. As quoted directly from her page, as previously quoted from our friend, Jadul’s page, the following are the rules of the game:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that’s playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don’t lie and try to pretend you’re cool…just type it in man!
I will also present some of the lyrics to make sure whether this game of randomness can provide rough analyses on my life. He he. Here goes the result.
1.Opening Credits: The Aluminum Group – A Blur in Your Vision
2. Waking Up: The Black Crowes – Thorn in My Pride
“Wake me when the day breaks. Show me how the sun shines. Tell me about your heartaches. Who could be so unkind? Do you dream to touch me? And smile down deep inside. Or could you just kill me? Its hard to make up your mind, sometimes. My angels, my devils, my thorn in my pride.”
3. First Day At School: Felix Da Housecat – What Does It Feel Like?
4. Falling In Love: The Who – Pinball Wizard
“Ever since I was a young boy. I’ve played the silver ball. From Soho down to Brighton. I must have played them all. But I ain’t seen nothing like him. In any amusement hall. That deaf, dumb and blind kid. Sure plays a mean pinball.”
5. “The Relationship”: The Ordinary – Sweet Rotten Apples
6. Fight Song: Pete Yorn – On Your Side
“I’m outside your house, 2 am it’s dark. So many mistakes. Come back home from bars. I am on your side. I just want to tell you off. So many lies are taking hold. It’s not your fault. There’s many scars. I am on your side. It’s taken me a long time. I am on your side. I’m on your side. And I listen. Yeah I listen. Can you listen? Now I’m listening.”
7. Breaking Up: Franz Ferdinand – I’m Your Villain
“I know what I am, I’m your villain. I don’t give a damn if I’m your villain. Because serious. You’re so serious. But I’ve got ready salted, ready on your belly. If you want to have fun. See you later, baby. See you later…”
8. Prom: Queen – Big Spender
“The minute you walked in the joint, I could see you were a man of
distinction, a real big spender, good looking, so refined, so wouldn’t you like to know what’s going on in my mind. So let me get right to the point, I don’t pop my cork for every guy I see. Hey Big Spender, spend a little time with me.”
9. Life: Mondial – Sunday in the City
10. Mental Breakdown: Manic Street Preachers – Nobody Loved You
“Nobody loved you – nobody made you feel so alone. Nobody loved you – no no. Cherry blossom tree – but at least you are free. Nobody loved you – like me. Its unreal now youre gone – but at least you belong. Nobody loved you – no no.”
11. Driving: Black Box Recorder – The Art of Driving
“You’re quite precautious. I know which button should be pressed. Let’s go out driving. I’ll wait until you pass the test. We can get a hood down. Throw away those learner plates. You got the hang of steering. Now try stepping on the brakes. You’ve been driving way too fast. You’ve been pushing way too hard. You’ve been taking things too far. Who do you think you are?”
12. Flashback: Idlewild – (I Am) What I Am Not
“Faster than the destination of knowing where you really are. Is where you’ve always been or is it where you began. And happiness, did it happen sooner than the doubt it cost you. You learn from the mistakes that I taught you.”
13. Getting Back Together: Shed 7 – Getting better
“You are my guiding light and you’re shining brighter. You shine like tokyo. It’s getting better all the time. And the hills are alive. With the sound of music. It’s getting better all the time. It’s getting better all the time. I’ve got my wings and I can fly. I will fly to you. You are my one ambition. Show me your recognition. It’s getting better all the time.”
14. Wedding: Joy Division – A Means To An End
“We fought for good, stood side by side, our friendship never died. On stranger waves, the lows and highs, our vision touched the sky. Immortalists with points to prove, I put my trust in you. I put my trust in you. I put my trust in you.”
15. Birth of Child: Ivy – Kite
“Oh, oh mother dear. Don’t let them shoot my kite down. Oh, oh father yeah. You’d let them shoot me down for sure. Another year. Don’t let them shoot my kite. Out of the sky.”
16. Final Battle: Manic Street Preachers – Nat West-Barclays-Midlands-LLoyds
“Economic forecasts soothe our dereliction. Words of euthanasia, apathy of
sick routine. Carried away with useless advertising dreams. Blinding children, life as
automatons. Nat West, Nat West-Barclays-Midlands-Lloyds. Black horse apocalypse
Death sanitised through credit. Barclays iron eagle, “33 injection”. Sold to advertiser, computer execution line. They give then take away, repossess and crucify. The more you own the more you are, lonelier with cheap desire. Prosperity–exports for Pol Pot. Prosperity–Mein Kampf for beginners.”
17. Death Scene: The Verve – Weeping Willow
“And the world don’t stop. There is no time for cracking up. Believe me friend. Cause when freedom comes. I’ll be long gone. You know it has to end.”
18. Funeral Song: The French Kicks – The Trial Of The Century (Live At KEXP)
“Wasn’t having it all that day. Having thought I was there is fine. Don’t know what can be hard to say, oh. That’s a sign of a better time. You know now. The hours that go in front of me. Remind it how it used to be. And you down in the grass with me. The hours of choking century. I blame you. I thank you. I blame you.”
19. End Credits: The Cardigans – NIL
This is scary. Most of the songs fit perfectly well with the questions! My first surprise comes from The Black Crowes. Their first words are WAKE UP. Second comes Black Box Recorder. Come on, so far this is the fittest song of them all! The Art of Driving answers ‘driving’, 100% awesome randomness. On the part of Fight Song also fits, especially listening to Franz Ferdinand’s I’m Your Villain for the breaking up: “See you later, baby. See you later…”
For me, the most beautiful coincidence is Joy Division’s song for the Wedding! The Verve also goes well with Death Scene. In addition, the end credit gave me the creeps! Wow. Deep instrumental for the closing. This is an awesome randomness.
