A320 & 747-400

18 June 2008

At first it sounds exciting. Something to look forward to. But yesterday, today, now, it feels so strange doing it. One drop, then the second drop of tears come along, accompanied by the third, the fourth. All of them found their ways to my dark navy t-shirt while I was looking outside through the bus’ window. Colourful Norwegian houses with their big yards and farms, several tunnels, many airport direction signs, the scary lady driver who was mad at me for some reasons, two old Italian tourists sitting behind me, red Slazenger travelling bag, iPod weirdly playing melancholic songs randomly keep me in company along the way to the airport.

I am sad. It feels almost the same when I left to this city last year. I’m feeling this city already as a home to all of my faraway emotions. Those armies of feelings about Oslo have kept me alive during the course of my journey. The small capital city, which reminding of many Erasmus students and their visitors from across Europe as a small sky town. Partially true, indeed. But the people, my new friends, I care much about them like I care my old ones. Those new friends whom I probably I won’t meet again in this life. I am sad, my friend, as you are. I hope our life paths will one day meet again. I dedicate my tears to you. I promise I’ll visit you someday.

And for Oslo, I’ll see you again in August. Don’t hide the sun when I’m back.

Relaxare + Laxus = Good Mood

15 June 2008

Weather forecast sometimes can be deceiving or helpful. Once I went to Trondheim without proper snow boots and winter jackets since the forecast said it was going to be plainly cold but hell, no abundant snows mentioned at all. Anyway, last two weeks in Oslo was great. Sun shone upon the summery weather and people nearly without their clothes lying around on the grass. I always see those “opportunists” in front of my building, with their disposable grills (which I can only find in Norway so far), books or compendiums (since it was exams season) and UV lotions. After I came back from hot Stockholm a couple days ago, Oslo apparently has turned to its normal nature, grey. Yet this morning I heard a really nice sound coming from outside and waking me up. I rolled up my bamboo curtain and there it goes, rains. And here I am sitting and sighing, “What a relaxed setting.”

Search Me, My Lady

14 June 2008

“What do you think about doors? Have someone asked you this? We’ve been searching for the right one. Hundreds of houses we’ve passed didn’t seem to manifest any sense of clue.”

“Could you help me first to define, what kind of doors are you looking for exactly?”

“That’s the kind of question for this kind of pursuit. First, it has to be bright because I like bright colours; they look good on my Canon. Second, it supposed to be taller than me or anyone passing it; it supposed to be like the doors of medieval castles. Third, I want a door who can talk and tell me what things that I can’t see behind it. Fourth, a good door will lead us to a good life. Those are the characteristics.”

“My lady, please, just search me.”*

*it means that the wise guy also thinks it’s a mystery.

Which door?
